On ear: The Sadies – Anna Leigh
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other word would smell as sweet”
A shakespeare quote for you there. That´s for one of the nicest bandnames at this moment; They Came From The Stars I Saw Them.

The hype-machinery hasn´t quite taken them yet, but be aware of this quartet from London. I got introduced to them by a friend. The band is playing at Blå, Oslo tomorrow night. I´m of course working, but if I get the time I´ll be on place!
Here you can see a video of the band playing “It´s Time”
Dismemberment Plan still remembered
An other thing today. Dismemberment Plan´s record “Emergency & I” from 1999 is “album of the day” on www.allmusic.com. and this is one of my absoulute favourite albums! It´s full of surprises and it´s jazzy, experimental, pop-ish and funny. Love it. I did an interview with Travis Morrison about a year ago about his solo debut “Travistan” that got 0.0 by Pitchfork Media.
I asked him some Plan questions as well and here´s one Q and A.
- What happened with Dismemberment Plan? What made you break up?
- We were just out of gas. Ten years, a lot of shows, four records.
We were starting to grind. And none of us ever wanted to be professional club musicians for the rest of our lives. That’s a hard life and very creatively stifling. I think we would have been open to fame and fortune of course, but that middle path is really rough. In the three years since the Plan broke up, the drummer Joe Easley went back to aerospace engineering school and he just finished designing a 707 passenger jet, every single piece of it, for his final exam. If we hadn’t broken up, instead of that, he would have been driving around in a van playing the same songs. Honestly, which path would you wish on him, or anyone else, spiritually? Three more years of rock-club touring, or designing a Jumbo Jet from scratch?
